A walk through the woods

The weather was glorious again on Sunday, so we hopped in the car and drove the (mercifully) short distance to Mells, one of my all time favourite villages.

Seriously, this place has everything. A babbling river, beautiful cottages, and a fantastic pub.

We followed said babbling river along to the disused ironworks, enjoying the canopy of the trees, as well as the peace and quiet.

We hardly saw anyone else. Apart from this little guy. And a woman who I believed to be Penelope Wilton. But Alex disagreed.

We got back to the village feeling rather warm. So we ducked into the Walled Garden.

This place is gorgeous. It’s free to wander around, but I’d highly recommend stopping off at the cafe. They do a selection of cakes, drinks, woodfired pizza and gelato.

No prizes for guessing what we went for.

Blooming marvellous. If you’re ever in the South West, get yourself to Mells.
