A Derbyshire Brunch

Since last week was (the second half of) Alex’s half term, we hopped on a train up to the Peak District to visit my parents, who have recently moved there. We had a fantastic week, seeing family and spending time with the cat (obviously).

On our last morning, we went into the beautiful village of Beeley – which mostly belongs to the Chatsworth Estate – for brunch.

We went to the Old Smithy – a lovely little cafe right in the heart of the village.

Fried eggs for me…

And scrambled eggs for Alex…

All served with a side of toast.

The food was beautifully cooked and the ingredients sourced locally – always good when you’re in such a lovely part of the world.

Needless to say, we were pretty full by the time we finished.

The Old Smithy also has a deli/shop attached, where you can pick up more tasty treats. Like these.
