So last week I mentioned that we rarely eat out at Westfield. This obviously means we’ve recently eaten out there…You know when you can’t be bothered to cook and there’s a plethora of eating establishments at your disposal? That.
Wahaca is obviously a chain, but you’re pretty much guaranteed a tasty meal there with lots of choice. We started with some booze. A classic margarita for me and a Mexican beer for him.
One of the best things about Wahaca is the ‘street food’ section of the menu. This basically consists of lots of sharing dishes. We always get confused between the tacos and the tostades; one is soft and the other is crispy. We remembered just in time that we preferred the tacos (soft) so ordered some of those!
We went for the plantain, which was delicious sweet and topped with feta cheese. The chipotle gave them a nice kick as well.
We ALWAYS order the chicken mole. Anything that combines meat and chocolate is a winner in my eyes.
And the pork pibil is a sure fire hit; meaty and spicy.
We also love the quesadillas – basically a Mexican toasted sandwich using a tortilla wrap. We had the black beans and cheese, and a special chilli variety.
After all that delicious food there was only one thing left to do. Order dessert. I can’t resist the churros con chocolate. Who could? Freshly fried cinnamon and sugar dusted doughnuts with a pot of thick, hot chocolate sauce for dipping. It’s a no brainer.
Alex ordered the salted caramel ice cream, which I promptly tucked into (I was waiting for my churros to cool…).
It might be a chain. It might be in a huge shopping centre, but Wahaca’s perfect for a quick and delicious dinner when cooking’s not on the agenda.
