We spent the first half of the week up in the Lake District, visiting my parents. We’re back in foggy old London town, so it’s lovely to look back over the photos to see what we got up to. Sunday involved a trip to Holker Hall, the home of Lord and Lady Cavendish (who we saw wandering through the tea room – they really exist!).
First stop – the cafe for tea and cakes. I resisted the lure of the scones in favour of a piece of delightful caramel shortbread.
Thoroughly refreshed, we headed into the house to explore. Photography isn’t allowed, so I could only take snaps of the outside! Needless to say, the house is a wonderful place to explore, detailing the history of the Cavendish family. The guides are super helpful, and very knowledgeable, pointing out little details that you’d miss otherwise.
When we emerged back out of the house, it WASN’T raining (shock) so we went to explore the beautiful gardens.
Holker is a beautiful place to visit, with a lovely gift shop full of all kinds of tempting morsels. Including these, which were happily consumed at home.
