It’s the end of the month, so money is inevitably scarce. As such, I thought it was the perfect opportunity to try out Yum Bun in their new home next to the Rotary Bar and Diner. It was a cold night, but the trek to Old Street was worth it. The menu is short and sweet – 4 different types of bun (Pork, Chicken, Beef or Mushroom).
We took advantage of the 2 buns for £6 deal (twice) and ordered the Pork (x2), Chicken and Beef. We took them next door to the Rotary Diner – it opened 3 weeks ago so go before everyone hears about it and it gets too busy! Whilst we waited for the buns (they’re all freshly cooked to order) we ordered a pint-sized cocktail from the bar. It can best be described as the kind of cocktail you get in Europe, ie alcohol-heavy, but delicious.
The buns arrived and boy they looked good. They were all amazing, but for me, the pork bun in particular stood out. The buns themselves are the real star of the show – steamed, sweet and delicious. If I worked in the City, I’d be there every bloody lunch time.

This place was a revelation for me too! I only wish it was closer to where I live…
Looks yummy but a bit far from me – went to Tonkutsu ramen bar on Regent st (Piccadilly circus end) and they had buns as well – delish! Tash x
